Weararena has told this over and again to watch out for Chinese OEM, Xiaomi. Touted as ‘China’s Apple,’ Xiaomi extends its footprints in wearable landscapes by partnering with Alibaba Group Holding Limited’s finance arm.
The collaboration between Chinese e-commerce Company’s Art Financial and Xiaomi will facilitate mobile payments using wearable technology.
Art Financial is the affiliate of Chinese firm and also runs the most popular online payment service in China, Alipay. With this partnership, the Alipay wallet mobile app will be linked with Mi Band bracelet of Xiaomi enabling users to pay with ease every time they shop at Alibaba (trust me, that happens often) using the fitness band. No passwords, no filling the details! The Alipay-Mi payment link will be based on Android Wear as of now followed by the second version with iOS compatibility later.

It is to be noted that it will be the first-of-its-kind service for Chinese tech firms.
The payment link will be encrypted and thus, users won’t have to worry about the security issues related to the wireless technology.

As Apple Watch is also launching in April, the integration of mobile wallet with Xiaomi seems a big step in China, which is emerging as the hot favourite market for Apple flagship. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Cupertino Company is planning to open more than 35 Apple Stores in the province.
