Today everything needs to be backed up by numbers. So, Alcatel OneTouch breaks it into numbers for you for its exclusive smartwatch. For instance, it can display up to 157 e-mail previews or social notifications for you. The debutante wearable entry from Alcatel comes in 4 stylish options and lets you control over 4300 songs from your wrist-based device. You can click up to 5 group selfies from your smartwatch and is 1 meter water-resistant.
This Alcatel smartwatch is cross-platform and is compatible with Android (4.3+) as well as iOS 7 or higher via a companion app. Though, the third party support and compatibility is still looming in the air. With TFT display and Oleophobic coating, it offers Bluetooth and NFC connectivity. The Alcatel OneTouch was first showcased at International CES 2015 and is very conveniently called, ‘Watch.’
Its premium design and circular dial will remind you of Motorola Moto 360 but the fact is it has indeed more to it. Given how the technology and Android Wear has evolved, the Alcatel OneTouch Watch sure benefits a lot from it. Equipped with sensors like accelerometer, gyrometer, altimeter, e-compass and heart rate sensor, it also clocks in your fitness regime. The entire fitness data is stored on the SSL-encrypted website and can be shared with the chosen contacts.
Alcatel has integrated the charging port within the wrist strap of the watch. Plug the port into computer or USB charger and you are good to go! The smartwatch is juiced by 210mAh battery and still the company claims that due to the proprietary OS, it can survive for at least 2 to 4 days on mixed usage. It weighs about 60 grams and is available in color versions of black / dark red or white / light gray. Straps will be available in two different lengths and two versions of 109.2mm and 119.2 mm.
Just to let you know, it doesn’t offer some breakthrough features and having great expectations from this smartwatch will only result in disappointment. However, it is affordable and has almost same functions as any other watch on the radar is offering, which makes it worthy to consider.
Alcatel OneTouch remains mum about the battery life which could be a deal breaker or deal maker for many out there and matters a lot in the wearable section. Yes, pricing is an important factor and at just $150, it gains an upper hand over its competitors whereas its cross-platform compatibility comes as a bonus. However, if you need to plug in the Watch twice a day, I don’t see how well it could be used.
Yet, if you find Alcatel OneTouch smartwatch worthy of one chance, head to the official website here. It is available for preorder for a reasonable $149. However, there is no word on estimated shipping date. Though mark our words, we are asking you to wait for Apple Watch because that thing is going to be the game changer for real. You will be shelling out a lot for this but you will also have the luxury to flaunt the first wearable from the Cupertino Company, something that changed the wearables!
