Pebble smartwatch has finally given in to the demand of Android users as the company here announced the rollout of its support for Android Wear compatibility. It is to be noted that the compatibility for Android Wear was added last year for developers and now it has been extended for public use. As the wearable company calls it, Android Pebblers can now do everything on Pebble smartwatch what they can do with the Android Wear.
With this new-found support, you can read notification and reply straight from your wrist without pulling off your smartphone. To make it happen, all you need is to update your Pebble watch to the latest firmware (v2.9) as well as install the updated Pebble Android app version 2.3.0. The app is available on Google Play Store.
In the latest rollout, the company has also included user-defined responses which were missing in the Beta phase available to the chosen few. The custom responses range from ‘what are you up to tonight’ to ‘on my way home.’ You can set up to 5 custom replies for the notifications.
You can also reply using Pebble-compatible Android SMS apps. Moreover, the new 2.3.0 Pebble app will automatically update the watchface when it will find that you are not doing much with the Pebble and the watch is in idle mode.
With this new support to Pebble Smartwatch, you can reply Hangout messages with emoji and transfer money via Square Cash. Though, to reply Hangout messages via Pebble smartwatch, you need to install Android Wear app on the connected phone.
The Android Wear support is compatible for smartphones running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher. The support for iOS is already available. The support for Android devices running 4.0 makes Pebble suitable for quite a database. It enhances the target base for the smartwatch while helping it to stay relevant as well as giving it a fair chance to act tough in the increasing competition.
So, for now it is time for you all Pebble owners to rejoice and show off Android Wear compatibility of Pebble Watch.
