Recently, we told you about Apple Watch 2. Seems that Apple wearable isn’t the only sequel in the making as Motorola Moto 360 is also coming around with a successor in the form of Motorola Moto 360 2. We have already seen some bubbles frothing for the eminent sequel but this is the time when we get to see an image of it.
Chinese media site, Weibo was the first to report this and the news was originally published by Android Pit. Earlier also, there was an image on Weibo posted by none other than Lenovo’s Chief Executive, Yang Yuanqing, which showcased a travel case and straps in two sizes apt for a round smartwatch. Frames and lugs in different colors are visible in this image.
The Chinese site reports that the second generation of Moto 360 will feature a 360 x 360 resolution, better than its older sibling which sported a 320 x 320 resolution. The original watch was much criticized for the black bar on the bottom that was purposely there to reduce the bezels and to host the sensors. But it eventually turned out to be the number one flaw. People hated that big bottom tire more than the fat tires on their waist, TBH.
However, with the upcoming sequel, it is expected that the next-gen Moto 360 2 will do away this tire in the evolution process. Additionally, the second-gen Moto 360 will also try to bring in different strap mechanism onboard along with a different button band. A different size and tweaked dimensions may also be the part of Moto 360’s design revamp. But since we are talking about the prototypes here and all we have is a possible, rumored image, we can’t be sure of the design or information as of now. But one thing is certain that the Moto Maker will grow and the OEM would give you plenty of options to customize that will go beyond straps, watch face and watch colors.
Since Motorola Mobility Presiden Rick Osterloh has already said that the traditional circular dial is the right form for a smartwatch, we think that the company would stick to the same design and won’t part with it. If you were hoping it to dare and do something different like Huawei Watch, not happening this time. So, the next-gen watch you will be seeing won’t be a fresh product lineup but some design change and inclusion of an array of features.
SVP of Motorola’s Global Marketing and Communication, Adrienne Hayes, also confirmed that the Moto 360 2015 edition is going to please the section which wanted a sleek and suave smartwatch in the first place. Yet, how are they going to tweak the watch, will be a thing to watch out for.
It is to be noted that Motorola Moto 360 grabbed limelight with its traditional circular design and for, it was the first smartwatch with Google’s proprietary Android Wear platform. But as the radar of Android Wear started to grow, the segment boomed with the likes of budget smartwatch ASUS ZenWatch and premium LG G Watch R. In fact, the rumors of Apple Watch were enough to fade away the Android Wear watches.
Now when ASUS is also planning its second generation ZenWatch 2 and people are waiting for Apple Watch 2 to get the things right, it might be Motorola’s chance to redeem its glory.
What do you think about Moto 360 2? Would you like to own it? Want to know Moto 360 2 Release Date and Moto 360 Price, stay tuned!
P.S. If you own a Motorola Moto 360 and the bottom tire is too difficult to ignore, download Watch Face app. Its Little World feature would do magic to it.
